Redyk – Sheep Drive to the Pastures

Every spring Szczawnica and the surrounding Pieniny host the traditional 'redyk' – the ceremonial drive of sheep to mountain pastures. A colourful procession of shepherds in highland costume, cracking whips and ringing bells create an unforgettable atmosphere, accompanied by highland bands and oscypek cheese tasting.

In December Szczawnica lights up during St. Lucy's Day – an event inspired by Scandinavian traditions of light. Thousands of lights decorate the streets while Christmas markets in the centre offer handicrafts, local treats and carol concerts.

Each year Szczawnica hosts a unique family event – Searching for the Yeti in the Pieniny. Participants set off on the trails to find traces of the legendary Yeti. Riddles, outdoor games and surprises await, ending with a bonfire and hot chocolate.
